Dear Ellie,

Yesterday you went all day in the house without a diaper.  Uncle Vaughn said that you didn’t pee on yourself at all.  While we were talking, Uncle Vaughn told you to stop climbing on your chair.  You said, “Mommy tell Uncle Vaughn to stop.”  It was so funny.

Tickles and fireworks

That night, you went to see fireworks.  We spoke on the phone before you left.  You were so excited that you didn’t want to take time to say goodbye to be me on the phone, you just wanted to leave.  I asked, “Are you going to see the fireworks?”  “Yes,” you said with a smile.  You were also packing your food into your lunch box.  I asked if you knew what fireworks were, Uncle Vaughn said that there were fireworks on “Fireman Sam.”  Now that I think about it, there were also fireworks on one of the episodes of “Daniel Tiger.”  In that episode, Daniel was afraid because the fireworks were really loud.  A few weeks ago, Uncle Vaughn told me that he wanted to take you to see the fireworks, so I bought you some ear protection so that it wouldn’t be so loud that they would scare you.

Posing for Mommy

Uncle Vaughn recorded you watching the fireworks, you were so excited and happy.  You had a huge smile across your face as you shouted out each time that you saw a firework.  In the first one you shout, “Wow, there’s fireworks!  It’s one, in sky.  There’s one.  There’s one.  Look there’s one.”  You said that each time one exploded.  Uncle Vaughn just laughed in the background.  In the next video, you were so happy that you could hardly contain your happiness.  “Red.  There, there, there.”  Then there was one that exploded really loudly and your face went from smiling to kind of shocked.  You pulled the ear protection off of your ears a little bit, put them back, and then began to smile again.  In the next video, you start counting all of them.  In the last video, you’re standing with your hands in the air, but your facing away from the camera.  It looks like you put your hands over your mouth and then put them back in the air in awe.   I wish that I could have been there.  I will be there next time though, well, at least next year at this time.  You’ll probably go see fireworks on Wednesday as well.  Based on how much you loved them, Uncle Vaughn will likely take you to see fireworks whenever they are being displayed.
